Course Description

The Diploma of Leadership and Management provides learners with the knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level must have the necessary initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own work-load, as well as the workload of others. You will learn to use your communication skills to support other individuals and eventually be able to lead a team, making sure they meet all organisational and enterprise requirements.

The course will teach you to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Full time: Total: 52 weeks (47 study weeks +5 weeks break) (1 year) - 4 Terms
Tuition Fees: 5 x AUD$1,600.00 Total AUD$8,000.00
Application Fees: AUD$ 250.00 (applicable on new enrolments only, once off fee)
Resources Fee: AUD$ 500.00

Entry Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or over
  • Completed Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • International students only must meet:

    • Minimum 5.5 IELTS score & above or equivalent.

    (Those students who do not meet the minimum English requirement will need to package this program with an English Course before proceeding to the Diploma of Leadership and Management).

Assessment

All units of competence will be assessed using a selection of tools (Portfolios, Reports, Role-plays, Practical observations, Case studies, Questioning, Simulation activities, and written tests)

Recognition of Prior Learning

An application can be made for RPL when the learner believes that they have already attained the necessary skills and competencies elsewhere (Work, other study etc.). An RPL application form is available upon request.

Candidates will be required to provide documentation to support their application. The application will be processed and an assessment made in accordance with the KCBT RPL and AQF Recognition Policy and Procedure.

Credit Transfer

Learners, who can demonstrate they already hold any of the Units of Competency specified above, may be eligible to receive a credit transfer for those units. They will need to submit a verified Certificate or Statement of Attainment issued by a RTO for recognition purposes.

Learners who are awarded a credit transfer will be exempted from completing those units at KCBT

Preferred pathways for learners enrolling in the Diploma of Leadership and Management include:

  • BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.

Pathways from this Qualification

Exit Points
  • Units of Competency are delivered as standalone sections of the course, allowing enough evidence to be gathered to enable the Assessors to make a competency judgement. Should a learner not be able to complete all the Units of Competency required to be awarded this qualification they will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the individual Units for which they have been assessed as competent.
  • Upon successful completion of the full program.
After achieving the Diploma of Leadership and Management, learners may undertake BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management.

Students may be able to receive exemptions from some subjects based on this qualification.

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Manager
KCBT policy prevents students under the age of 18 from registering in KCBT courses or programs.
