General English

The General English courses offered at KCBT are designed to support student’s development in conversation, everyday situations and daily interactions that take place when travelling or living in an English speaking country. Students learn and practice the four macro-skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking in an exciting, interactive environment.

Our General English courses are offered at 3 levels and the intake days are every Monday. A placement test will be taken on the orientation day to make sure you are in the right class for your level – and then you can start learning straight away.

Course Duration/Fees

Full time: 1 to 24 weeks per course level (minimum of 4 weeks)

Tuition Fees: $180 per week

Application Fees: $250

Resources Fee: $15 per week

Timetable: Monday – Wednesday: 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM + Thursday: 4:30 PM – 8:50 PM

Entry Requirements

• Course available for those 18 years and over.
• Students commence at the level according to their current ability.

Student will not be allowed in class if they do not attend orientation and complete placement test. If student misses orientation, and student does not have any compassionate or compelling reason, student will not be allowed in the class and will need to attend orientation following week, this will have an effect on student attendance requirement.

Course Content

Assessment

Students’ progress is measured on a formative and summative basis. Students are also provided with a report which indicates their progress, enabling them to develop their skills. Assessment can take place through in-class activities, formal and informal tests, interviews, pair work and group work, research assignments and computer-based tasks.

Study Pathway and Career Opportunities

General English will provide a wealth of opportunities to develop speaking, writing, reading and listening for interaction in English speaking countries. It can also provide fantastic skills to lead into IELTS, PTE, FCE and CAE.

The course aims to provide students with a learning environment that is as close as possible to everyday situations in Australia and is also designed around student based requirements.
