FCE / CAE

The Cambridge English First Certificate Examination (FCE) and The Cambridge English Advanced Examination (CAE) Preparation courses have been designed for students seeking to acquire the language and test-taking skills required to undertake the Cambridge test. The Cambridge Advanced Examination Test is recognised by many universities, employers and governments around the world. It teaches reading, writing, listening and speaking skills which are necessary for the exam how to approach each exam task, as well as essential grammar and vocabulary.

Course Duration/Fees

Full time: 10 units of study, each of which is delivered over a week

Tuition Fees: $180 per week

Application Fees: $250

Resources Fee: $15 per week

Timetable: Monday – Wednesday: 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM + Thursday: 4:30 PM – 8:50 PM

The delivery methods for this course include

• Face to face learning through flexible learning adjusted to different learning styles and needs of students.
• Learning takes place through a combination of authentic materials and specifically prepared learning experiences including lectures, discussions, role-plays, presentations, guest lecturers, individual and group activities web based research, online activities and shared work experiences.

Entry Requirements

• Course available for those 16 years and over
• Students entering this course will require a level of English which allows them to understand and attempt the tasks required for the FCE and CAE test. In order to be placed in this course, students will be required to complete an English language proficiency test.

While there are no specific educational pre-requisites for entry into this course, however, it is anticipated that a majority of students will have completed Year 10 or equivalent.

Student will not be allowed in class if they do not attend orientation and complete placement test. If student misses orientation, and student does not have any compassionate or compelling reason, student will not be allowed in the class and will need to attend orientation following week, this will have an effect on student attendance requirement.

Course Content

Assessment

Assessments will be formative to assist in assessing progress and summative for a final assessment of the student’s ability. Assessment can take place through in class activities, formal and informal class tests, interviews, pair work and group work, research assignments, computer based tasks and observation of reading, writing, speaking and listening during class activities.
